Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Holdings Amid Price Surge Above $87K

Metaplanet has purchased an additional 330 BTC, increasing its total holdings to 4,855 BTC worth over $420 million, as Bitcoin’s price surpassed $87,000. This acquisition marks Metaplanet as the tenth-largest public holder of Bitcoin. Meanwhile, Bitcoin has outperformed U.S. equities during recent market instability, leading to a slight increase in Metaplanet’s stock.

Metaplanet has recently expanded its cryptocurrency portfolio by acquiring an additional 330 BTC, bringing its total holdings to 4,855 BTC. This purchase was made during a time when Bitcoin’s price exceeded $87,300, marking a notable recovery from previous market losses. With this move, Metaplanet is now positioned as the tenth-largest public holder of Bitcoin.

Despite prevailing market uncertainties, Bitcoin has consistently outperformed several U.S. equities. Over the course of two days following President Trump’s tariff announcements, U.S. stocks decreased in value by $5.4 trillion, while Bitcoin experienced a much smaller decline of only 6%. METAPLANET’s stock has also benefitted from this strengthened position, gaining nearly 0.9% on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Additionally, the Japanese fashion company ANAP Holdings has entered the cryptocurrency market, purchasing approximately 16.66 BTC valued at about $1.4 million. This acquisition will be managed by ANAP Lightning Capital, which plans to assess its Bitcoin holdings quarterly. Notably, this subsidiary reported a current yield of 12.1% for Bitcoin, contrasting with a much higher yield of 95% from the previous quarter.
