Bitcoin Forecast: Standard Chartered Predicts $120K by Q2 2025
Standard Chartered predicts Bitcoin may reach $120,000 by Q2 2025 and $200,000 by year-end, driven by strategic reallocations and significant market indicators. The price surge also aligns with renewed bank interest in crypto, coupled with a historic high in U.S. Treasury term premiums, suggesting shifting investor sentiment toward alternative assets such as Bitcoin.
In a bold prediction, Standard Chartered’s Geoffrey Kendrick forecasts that Bitcoin could reach $120,000 in the second quarter of 2025, with a potential rise to $200,000 by the year’s close. This optimistic outlook was detailed in a note issued on April 28, wherein Kendrick attributed the anticipated surge to strategic asset shifts away from U.S. investments, significant accumulation by Bitcoin ‘whales,’ and increasing inflows into Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
Kendrick noted that the U.S. Treasury term premium, which typically has a close correlation with Bitcoin prices, has spiked to a twelve-year high. This indicates that investors in the U.S. might be moving their money away from traditional bonds towards alternative investments like Bitcoin. He underscored how Bitcoin has experienced sideways movements in the past before launching into notable upward trends spurred by market sentiment.
Additionally, major banks, such as Deutsche Bank alongside Standard Chartered, are re-evaluating their cryptocurrency operations within the U.S. Their renewed focus comes on the heels of a shift in traditional finance back toward crypto, following significant events like FTX’s downfall and the closure of several crypto-friendly banks. This reassessment appears to be aligned with promises from former President Donald Trump to create a more crypto-friendly environment in the U.S.
Bitcoin is currently valued at approximately $95,000, a staggering increase from its lows of just under $14,000 in November 2022, which has fueled speculation about an impending rally. If Kendrick’s prediction comes to pass, reaching $120,000 in Q2 would constitute a new all-time high, eclipsing previous records set in late 2021 and early 2022. Standard Chartered is optimistic that Bitcoin will continue to gain momentum into the summer, ultimately aiming for that ambitious $200,000 target by the end of 2025.
