Ripple’s RLUSD Listed by Gemini Amid $25 Million Educational Donation

Ripple’s stablecoin RLUSD gets added to Gemini, a major US cryptocurrency exchange. The launch of RLUSD took place in December 2024 on both XRP Ledger and Ethereum. In a show of corporate support, Ripple donated $25 million in RLUSD to U.S. educational non-profits. Additionally, no new RLUSD has been minted since late April, with 317.04 million currently in circulation.

The cryptocurrency landscape has seen some new developments lately, particularly with Ripple’s stablecoin, RLUSD, making headway. The major U.S. exchange, Gemini, co-founded by Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss in 2014, has now added RLUSD to its list of supported assets. This announcement was made by Reece Merrick, Ripple’s managing director for Middle East & Africa, via his social media.

Ripple launched RLUSD on its mainnet back in December 2024, and it is minted on both the XRP Ledger and the Ethereum blockchain, although the Ethereum network has been the primary platform for its release so far. Prior to Gemini’s listing, exchanges like Bullish, Bitstamp, and LMAX Digital had already integrated RLUSD into their platforms, showcasing a growing acceptance in the crypto market.

In a separate but notable initiative, Ripple announced a hefty $25 million donation in RLUSD to support U.S. education. Two non-profit organizations, DonorsChoose and Teach For America, are set to benefit from this generous contribution. Ripple’s CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, asserted that this partnership aims to enhance educational experiences across thousands of classrooms, coinciding with Teacher Appreciation Week.
