Soluna has signed a two-year hosting agreement with Blockware to host 1,500 crypto mining machines in Texas. The initial target for the deployment is 5MW, with potential mining output projected at 250-350 PHps. This partnership highlights Soluna’s focus on renewable energy for Bitcoin mining. Meanwhile, Soluna is also expanding with new sites, including Project Ellen and Project Kati, to bolster its mining capabilities in Texas.
Soluna, a data centre developer, has entered a two-year hosting agreement with Blockware, a crypto mining service provider. This partnership is set to see Soluna host 1,500 of Blockware’s state-of-the-art S21+ mining machines at their Project Dorothy 2 facility in Texas. These machines went live on April 21 and are projected to reach an initial target of 5 megawatts (MW). Once fully operational, Blockware anticipates a mining performance of between 250 petahashes per second (PHps) and 350 PHps.
John Belizaire, CEO of Soluna Holdings, expressed excitement over welcoming Blockware to Project Dorothy 2. He highlighted that this collaboration emphasises the significance of their renewable-powered data centres for Bitcoin mining. It also boosts their portfolio of reputable customers who share their vision for sustainable computing solutions.
Blockware CEO Mason Jappa stated that this alliance is crucial in fulfilling their goal of increasing hash rate capacity in the United States. He stressed the importance of Bitcoin mining in the modern economy, pledging Blockware’s dedication to working with top-tier operators to provide premier hosting services and access to affordable energy.
Additionally, Atlas Cloud is also benefiting from Soluna’s cloud services at Project Dorothy 2. In a recent expansion, Soluna added a new site, Project Ellen, a massive 100MW facility in South Texas, named after Ellen Ochoa, the first Hispanic woman to travel to space. This site aims to enhance Soluna’s operational capabilities, reflecting its commitment to innovation in data centre development.
Moreover, the company has taken steps to further its Texas operations by purchasing additional land for Project Kati, which will incorporate 166MW of Bitcoin mining and artificial intelligence (AI) facilities. Alongside Ellen and Kati, Soluna has multiple other campuses underway in Texas, such as the 187MW Project Rosa and the Dorothy series totalling 98MW across its facilities.
